Allegan, Mich. May 1, 2018—Big Cedar Lodge, America’s premier wilderness resort located 10 miles south of Branson in Ridgedale, Missouri in the heart of the Ozark Mountains, is debuting an outdoor Sky Trail® Explorer ropes course early this summer. For those new to high ropes courses, the multi-level attraction stands over 40 ft. tall and contains over 60 different elements including activities such as a rolling log, swaying ladder, and narrow balancing beam. Every participant wears a safety harness that is inserted into the steel U.S. patented overhead tracking system to assure a safe adventure. Without ever unhooking their safety harness from the system, participants can grasp ropes and railings as they make their swaying way through the course for an unforgettable adventure.
The four-story Sky Trail® Explorer ropes course is located on the back of the Fun Mountain on 4,600 acres settled on Big Cedar Lodge. It includes two electronic Sky Rail™ zip lines that allow participants to zip over the attractions below. Participants can also try the ever-daring QUICKjump free fall from a platform at the top of the ropes course. This course joins the kid-sized Sky Tykes® course that was built last year on the site and is specifically designed for smaller children ages 2-7 or under 48 inches tall.
Johnny Morris, founder and owner of Bass Pro Shops and Big Cedar Lodge, was prompted to add a high ropes course to his expansive wilderness resort after seeing a similar attraction featured at other destinations. He recognized the appeal of providing an interactive, family-friendly activity that was in alignment with his conservationist philosophy for recreation.
The luxury resort—complete with Top of the Rock and Dogwood Canyon Nature Park—has a full service marina, 1,800 square ft. spa, horseback riding, world-class fishing, golf, and trails suited for walking, biking, and hiking. The new Sky Trail® Explorer will be open to the public as well as guests of the lodge. It joins the roster of activities already available at the 50,000 sq. ft. Fun Mountain facility including underwater themed bowling, golf simulator, laser tag, kid’s nature discovery center, billiards, bumper cars, flip zone, and climbing wall.
“We want Fun Mountain visitors to experience the beauty of the Ozarks in a whole new way that is unlike anything else in the region,” explained Morris. “With live alligators and pythons living beneath this four-story wonder, it’s sure to elevate the challenge and thrill of the ropes course, while being perfectly safe,” he assured.
The new Big Cedar Lodge Sky Trail® Explorer was built by Michigan-based Ropes Courses, Inc. (RCI) and is one of more than 500 adventure products they have built around the U.S., the world, and even on cruise ships.

Cost is $25 per person plus $5 to add on the QUICKjump free fall from the top of the course.
