400 feet of thrilling obstacles, slides and climbing towers
TOPEKA – In late December the Shawnee County Commissioners approved a contract that will see the installation of a one-of-a-kind net-play ropes course installed at Gage Park in Topeka, KS.
“This was one of those designs that as the project progressed we got more and more excited about,” said Zack Loeprich, marketing manager for RCI Adventure Products. “While most of our courses are custom, this course’s linear design is especially unique. We’re all so thrilled that this course was approved and the project is moving forward.”
Adventure Trail® Course at Gage Park
The Adventure Trail® designed for Gage Park will run over 400 feet in length and sit 10 feet about the ground. The course will include several fun and challenging suspension bridge elements, a spiral climb, three different net elevator designs, and three different spiral slides.
Located in the westside suburbs of Topeka, Gage Park has always been a must-stop destination as it features the Topeka Zoo, a family aquatic center, a carousel, an amphitheater, a children’s discovery center, a botanical garden and a mini-train ride.
Shawnee County residents voted in 2022 on a measure that would raise funds for park-wide improvements. Funds raised are distributed between the zoo, the parks and recreation department, the Kansas Children’s Discovery Center and Gage Park Improvement Authority.
“The Adventure Trail® course is just one part in a much larger park enhancement project,” Loeprich said. “We’re so thankful to be a part a project that will touch so many lives in the Topeka area. In the coming months, we’re excited to see these enhancements come to fruition.”
County officials have indicated a desired installation date sometime this summer. The course will be manufactured at the RCI Adventure Products headquarters in Allegan, MI, and installed on site.
Net-Play Ropes Course
With products in over 30 countries, RCI is known worldwide for its Sky Trail® ropes course, a harnessed attraction. Adventure Trail® is a harness-free attraction as its towers and bridges are covered in nets.
Like the Sky Trail® ropes course, Adventure Trail® is designed for the full family to enjoy as there are no weight or height restrictions. While the Sky Trail® course requires participants to be tethered to the course’s continuous tracking system, and limits entry/exit points, participants on net-play course can move on and off the course as they desire. The course design features multiple entry/exit points.
