New obstacles available for ropes courses

RCI publishes updated Element Catalog

To coincide with the annual IAAPA Expo in Orlando, RCI Adventure Products rolled out an updated Elements Catalog. The newly released catalog of ropes course obstacles features several new designs for our Sky Trail® ropes courses. The catalog also features elements for our Sky Tykes® course.

The term “element” in RCI’s world can be interchanged with “obstacle” and we offer dozens of different ropes, bridge, beam and step obstacles, each varying in difficulty. The Elements Catalog is broken up into the following ropes course obstacle categories: Rope Nets & Ladders, Steel Footlines, Rope & Plumber Footlines, Suspension Bridges, Truss Bridges, Handlines, Single Pole Elements and Cutting Edge Elements.

RCI is constantly coming up with new and thrilling elements for our Sky Trail ropes course.

Choose your own ropes course adventure

RCI Adventure Products designs ropes course the entire family can enjoy, from little children all the way to their grandparents.

RCI pioneered the modern-day ropes course which allows participants to go on a self-led adventure, picking and choosing the obstacles they’re most comfortable engaging. They can do this without ever disconnecting from the course or requiring any staff support.

From a single platform on an RCI ropes course, a participant could have up to six obstacles to choose from. Our course designers, when laying out the obstacles, attempt to create a pathway with varying degrees of difficulty. Of those six potential obstacles, two might be easy, two might be moderately difficult and two might be very difficult.

This versatile design option allows our ropes courses to appeal to a much wider age range and becomes an adventure experience the entire family can enjoy. When we design new obstacles, we keep the difficulty of that obstacle in mind.

Most difficult ropes course obstacles

RCI staff members have their own take on what the most difficult obstacles are, as do our customers. Just prior to the 2023 IAAPA Expo, RCI’s R&D team introduced the Hanging Burma Buckets, free-swinging rope steps that everyone agreed was a challenge!

One popular obstacle that is built into many course designs is our Rolling Log and, like the Hanging Burma Buckets, it gets our most difficult rating. Just like the name says, participants must traverse across a narrow cylinder that has the potential to roll. The Rolling Log will test your balance and agility!

RCI offers a variety of curved obstacles that can allow our customers to built out on their existing course without adding additional poles. One element in this category, rolled out in 2023, is our Curved Weave Walk. This element is often added around the parameter of a course. Maneuvering around an obstacle is one thing, but when you’re 20 feet in the air and having to swing out over the parameter of the course is a whole different challenge.
